    "BE A TOURIST IN YOUR OWN TOWN" PHOTO CONTEST RULES

    1. The 2008 photography contest is open to residents of the United States.

    2. There is no cost to enter.

    3. The contest will run from Saturday, May 10 to Saturday, September 6, 2008.

    4. A completed, signed and dated contest entry form must accompany each photograph. CLICK HERE for the contest entry form. You will need Adobe Reader to view the file and can download that for free by visiting www.adobe.com

    5. Photos must be submitted on CD. Photographers may enter more than one image, up to a total of 10 photos, but the images should all be on one CD.

    6. Photos must be taken at one of the sites listed below or at one of their events, activities or programs between Saturday, May 10 and Saturday, September 6, 2008.

    • Adventure Oasis Family Water Park, Hub Drive, north of 23rd street.
    • America’s Family Foundation, 11701 E. Winner Road.

    • Bingham-Waggoner Estate, 313 W. Pacific.
    • Chicago & Alton Depot, 318 W. Pacific.
    • Children’s Peace Pavilion, 1001 W. Walnut.
    • Church of Christ Temple Lot, 200 S. River.
    • Community of Christ Temple, 201 S. River and Auditorium, 1001 W. Walnut.
    • Harry S Truman Home National Historic Site, 219 N. Delaware. (Note: The National Park Service policy prohibits interior photos of the home – also no photos of uniformed employees or the arrowhead logo are allowed).

    • Harry S. Truman Office and Courtroom, 112 W. Lexington.
    • Heritage Plaza, 1034 W. Lexington.
    • Historic Independence Square and historic Jackson Co. Courthouse.
    • Leila’s Hair Museum, 1333 S. Noland. (limited availability of photos ops)
    • Mormon Visitors Center, 937 W. Walnut.

    7. Each photograph that includes identifiable people must be accompanied by a separate, signed release from EACH identifiable person in the photo. CLICK HERE for the photo release form. You will need Adobe Reader to view the file and can download that for free by visiting www.adobe.com.

    8. Independence Tourism and the Examiner are not responsible for late, lost, damaged, destroyed or misdirected entries, or for miscommunications, misdirected transmissions or other errors of any kind whether human, mechanical or electronic.

    9. All entries become the exclusive property of Independence Tourism, which reserves the right to use photographs in printed materials or on websites promoting Independence Tourism, without any compensation or photo credits to the photographer or subjects.

    10. Prizes will be awarded only to entries that the contest judges deem worthy. Some prizes may not be awarded if no acceptable entries are received. All decisions are final.

    11. Any taxes or additional expenses associated with the awarded prizes are the responsibility of the winners.

    12. This contest is void wherever restricted or prohibited by state or local laws.

    13. Employees and family members of Independence Tourism or the Examiner are prohibited from participating in this contest.

    14. Contestants grant to Independence Tourism and the Examiner the right to use and publish their name in print or any other media format, in connection with the contest.

    15. By entering, participants release and hold harmless Independence Tourism and the Examiner, as well as any directors, officers or employees of these organizations from any and all liability for any injuries, loss or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with the contest.

    16. If for any reason the contest is not capable of being conducted as planned, Independence Tourism and the Examiner reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to cancel, modify, suspend or terminate the contest without notice to the entrants.
